Biography

Anna Bridget Karawulan, 89, was brought into heaven by the angels on July 28. Anna was a resident of the Hometown Nursing Home and a life long resident of Coaldale. She was the widow of the late Nicholas Karawulan and the daughter of the late Cletus and Catherine (Gildea) Schilling. She is survived by a son Dennis of Coaldale; a sister Mary Rajnic of Langhorn; cousins and life long friends Jack O’Donnell of Langhorn and Kathleen Gallagher of Maryland; a brother-in-law Theodore Halderman of Coaldale; and a niece Mary Hnat; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by sisters Catherine Halderman and Theresa Rickert, and brothers John and Thomas Schilling. Anna was a graduate of the former St. Mary High School, Coaldale. She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Lansford and a former member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Coaldale. Donations may be made in her name to St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 124 E. Abbott St., P.O. Box 177, Lansford, PA 18232. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 2, St. Katharine Drexel Church, 124 East Abbott Street, Lansford with The Rev. Kenneth Medve officiating. Call 10-11 AM, Monday, at the church. Arrangements are being handled by the August M. Gulla Funeral Home, 130 East Ridge Street, Coaldale.
