Biography
Blanche A. Suda, 82, of East High Street, Coaldale, PA died on Saturday, July 24, 2010 in Bethlehem, PA. She was the wife of the late Peter Suda who died in 1982. Born in Coaldale on March 30, 1928, she was a daughter of the late John and Josephine (nee Costello) Stalma and a step daughter of the late Andrew Bialis. A graduate of the former Coaldale High School, Blanche also graduated from Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing, Allentown, PA. A registered nurse, she retired from private duty nursing having previously worked for the former Coaldale State Hospital. Blanche was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Tamaqua, PA, belonged to the Polish National Alliance, and was an election poll worker in Coaldale. Surviving her are daughters, Sally Ann Suda of Coaldale, Mary Beth Suda of Catasaqua, PA and Nancy VanHorn and her husband, Richard of Nesquehoning, PA; son, Theodore P. Suda and his wife, Donna of Fruit Land Park, Florida; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and sister, Mary Nevenglosky of Hometown, PA. A sister, Jennie Shanosky, also predeceased her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 307 Pine Street, Tamaqua, PA with The Rev. William Linkchorst officiating. Interment in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown will follow the mass. Call 6-8 PM Wednesday and 8:30-9:30 AM Thursday at the August M. Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge Street, Coaldale. Memorials in her name may be made to the Carbon Tamaqua Unit of the American Cancer Society, 33 West Ridge Street, Lansford, PA 18232.
