Raymond L. DeBenedict, 72, of Troxell Valley Road, Andreas, PA and formerly of Tamaqua, PA, died on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at home. He was the husband of Mary (née Ulshafer) DeBenedict to whom he was married 49 years. Born in Coaldale, PA on April 3, 1946, Raymond was the son of the late Ray E. and Madeline (née Morgan) DeBenedict. Having attended Tamaqua High School, he served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Raymond was a life member of the Tamaqua American Legion, C. H. Berry Post #173 and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He retired in 1999 from Hart Metals, Tamaqua where he was a supervisor for 35 years. An avid Eagles fan, Raymond also enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by son, Ray DeBededict and his wife Jennifer of Hometown, PA; daughters, Angie DeBenedict of Media, PA and Lisa Behr and her husband Steven of Andreas; granddaughters, Sarah, Lauren and her husband Sebastian, and Danielle; grandsons, Kyle, Haley, Nicholas, Luke, and Chase; great granddaughter, Ellie; great grandson, Cole; sisters, Amy Behler of Tamaqua and Marie Stoltz of Lemoyne, PA; and numerous nephews and nieces. Raymond was predeceased by sisters, June Joanne Galloway and Marlene DeBenedict. Services will be held at Noon on Saturday, December 1 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua with Chaplain Scott Fobare officiating.
