Obituary

Joseph Michael Schasney, 96, died August 11, 2018 in Greensburg, Indiana. Born March 16, 1922, in Lansford, PA, he was a son of the late Rudolf and Ursula (nee Gulla) Schasney. Joseph attended St. Michael Catholic School, Lansford, and was a member of that parish. After serving in the U.S. Army Air Forces in World War II, he married Margaret "Peg" Zukuskie on July 1, 1950, in Tamaqua, PA. Joseph and his family later moved to Newton Falls, Ohio, where they lived for many years. Surviving are a sister, Agnes Mikulski of Lansford; a brother, Rudolf Schasney Jr. of Union, New Jersey; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Schasney of Greensburg; two grandchildren, Jill, wife of David Fuel, and Thomas Schasney and his wife, Sarah of Greensburg; and four great-grandchildren, Cole Fuel, Hannah Fuel, Landen Fuel, and Ronnie Elliott, all of Greensburg. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Peg; a son, Paul; five sisters, Ann Nobile, Helen Schasney, Marie Benack, Verna Stromelo, and Milly Schasney; and two brothers, Steve and Paul Schasney. Burial with graveside services and military honors will take place at 10 AM on Monday, October 8, 2018 in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown, PA.
