John Joseph Bianchi, 63, of Hometown, PA and formerly of Ashland, PA where he spent most of his life, died on Saturday, March 17, 2018 in Hometown. Born in Ashland on April 5, 1954, he was the son of the late Joseph John and Charlotte Lorraine (nee Rettinger) Bianchi. A 1972 graduate of North Schuylkill High School, John served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was employed by the North Schuylkill School District as a member of the district’s custodial staff. Prior to his employment with the school district, he was a custodian for Empire Beauty at many of their multiple locations. John was an avid Eagles Fan and a member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church, Ashland. He is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Jean Korn of Ashland; his close companion and favorite dog, Muffin; sisters, JoAnn Wetzel and her husband William of Hometown and Donna Donahue of Virginia Beach, VA; a close cousin who was like a sister, Angie Schickley and her husband Vern and Angie’s children Jack and Steven Spade; nephew, Matthew Wetzel of Hometown; nieces, Mandy Costello and her husband Joseph of Tampa, FL and Belinda Donahue of Newark, DE; great nephews, Patrick Costello, Reiley Costello, and Dylan Costello; and great nieces, Madison Beale and Riley Beale. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, March 21 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua.
