Frieda Oberman, 89, of Arlington Street, Tamaqua, PA died on Saturday, September 10, 2016 in Hometown, PA. She was the wife of the late Alvin L. Oberman who died in 2003. Born in Coaldale, PA on February 14, 1927 Frieda was a daughter of the late William and Myrtle (Woodring) Schellhammer. She had worked in the garment industry at various locations in Tamaqua and was affiliated with St. John Lutheran Church, Tamaqua. Frieda is survived by daughters, Diane Secara and her husband Michael of Catasaqua, PA and Barbara Judd of Bethlehem, PA; son, Alvin Oberman and his wife Barbara of Brockton, PA; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and sister, Fern Woodring of Tamaqua. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 15 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. Interment in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown, PA will follow the services. Call from 10-11 AM on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society, ACS Frackville Regional Hub, 101 W. Frack Street, Frackville, PA 17931. Arrangements are being handled by the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc.
